La Salle eyes solo lead as it takes on unpredictable FEU side in UAAP volley

LA Salle guns for the solo lead, while Far Eastern University hopes to gain solo third place as the Lady Spikers and the Lady Tamaraws clash on Wednesday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

It is the last match of the year for former champion La Salle, and the Lady Spikers are looking to keep their slate unbeaten. La Salle shares the top spot with defending champion Ateneo at 4-0.

Lady Spikers skipper Ara Galang leads all scorers with 83 points, although she has already played 13 sets, while Ateneo star Alyssa Valdez has scored 81 points in 12 sets.

Sophomore Bernadeth Pons, Remy Palma and Charlemagne Simborio will have to step up for FEU as the Lady Tamaraws try to bounce back from a 19-25, 25-27, 13-25 loss to Adamson.

The match starts at 4 p.m.

FEU is in a three-way tie for third with Adamson and National University at 2-2.

University of the Philippines eyes its second victory as it takes on winless University of the East at 2 p.m.

After its impressive, 26-24, 23-25, 25-20, 26-17, win over University of Santo Tomas, UP bowed to La Salle, 16-25, 20-25, 21-25, for a 1-3 win-loss slate and a share of sixth spot with UST.
