ATENEO scored its third consecutive straight-sets win, downing Far Eastern University on Saturday to take the solo lead in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at Araneta Coliseum.

Skipper Alyssa Valdez led Ateneo with 16 points, all from spikes, as the Lady Eagles beat the Lady Maroons, 25-15, 25-16, 25-17, for its third victory in as many outings.

Rookie Bea de Leon added 10 markers for Ateneo, which needed an hour and 19 minutes to take the match.

"We are happy na nag-perform lahat ng maganda. For sure, si coach Tai (Bundit) ganun din. Nag-perform din kahit mga off the bench," said Valdez.

Ateneo has yet to drop a set in three outings after winning its first two matches against National University and Adamson.

"Depende sa amin kung makukuhaan kami ng set of hindi," added the Ateneo skipper.

La Salle had a 2-0 win-loss record, while University of Santo Tomas is at 1-0.

No FEU player scored in double figures, with Bernadeth Pons coming up with seven points and Charlemagne Simborio adding six.

The Lady Tamaraws now hold an even 1-1 card.
