University of the East wins opening match of UAAP Jrs volley finals against thrice-to-beat National U

UNIVERSITY of the East scored a surprisingly easy 25-21, 25-15, 25-19 victory over thrice-to-beat National University in the opener of the UAAP boys’ volleyball championship series on Monday at the Adamson University Gym.

The Junior Warriors, who finished second in the double-round eliminations, handed the Bullpups their first loss after advancing outright to the finals with a 12-match sweep of the elims.

UE, looking to extend its reign to 12 years, needed only one hour and 13 minutes to score the win.

The second match is set 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the Adamson Gym and the third match is set tomorrow at the same time. A fourth match, if necessary, will be played on Thursday.

The Bullpups are gunning for a high school championship double after the NU girls team won a second straight title by beating University of Santo Tomas.
