PLDT Home Ultera survived Philippine Air Force, 28-26, 27-29, 25-22, 21-25, 18-16, in the semifinals of the Spikers’ Turf men’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan on Sunday.

Mark Gil Alfafara scored 24 points, JP Torres added 16, Jayson Ramos chipped in 14, while Henry James Pacana and Kheeno Francio had 10 each for the Ultra Fast Hitters in their first match of the single-round semifinals.

“Hindi kasi nasunod ang game plan namin, we had too many errors which the other team capitalized,” said PLDT coach Odjie Mamon. “Instead of us setting the pace we let the opponent control the game.”

PLDT gave away 33 points through errors.

The Ultra Fast Hitters secured the win with Alfafara’s cross court kill and John Vic de Guzman’s block on Ruben Inaudito.

“’Yung fighting spirit na lang namin ang nagdala sa amin,” said Mamon.

Edwin Tolentino fired 27 points, Jeffrey Malabanan scored 21, Inaudito added 19 and skipper Dante Alinsunurin finished with 10 for the Airmen.
