Air Force battles back from a set down to ground Cignal in Spikers Turf

FORMER University of Santo Tomas top hitter Mark Alfafara led the way for Philippine Air Force to dispose Cignal, 16-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23, to book its second consecutive win in the 2nd Spikers’ Turf Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Monday.   

Alfafara finished with 18 points, anchored on 15 kills, for the Jet Spikers (2-0), while former Emilio Aguinaldo College ace spiker Howard Mojica added 16 points and Jeffrey Malabanan and Reyson Fuentes chipped in nine markers apiece.

Last year’s runner-up, Air Force defeated 100 Plus, 25-11, 25-16, 25-23 last week and now currently hold the solo top spot.

Herschel Ramos made 14 points for the defending champion Cignal, while Edmar Bonono and Lorenzo Capate Jr. had 12 markers each.

Cignal dropped to 1-1 for a share of the second spot with Instituto Estetico Manila.
