UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas bounced back with a 25-9, 31-29, 25-19 victory over Adamson University on Sunday in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Sisi Rondina scored 22 points and had 16 digs as UST got back on track after a loss to Ateneo last week.

Dimdim Pacres contributed 13 markers.

“Sabi ko nga lahat ng nangyayari may purpose, blessing in disguise na lang din na ‘yung mga locals ito na ang opportunity nila (na mag-step up),” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes, whose squad is missing the services of libero Rica Rivera and Milena Alessandrini due to injuries.

UST overcame five set points in the second set and went on to score its second win in four matches to tie Adamson, Far Eastern University and Ateneo.

“Basta bawal lang magkamali. Yun lang, bawal magkamali kasi otherwise wala na, talo na kami doon. So kumapit kami hanggang sa dulo,” said Reyes.

“Suddenly naka-dikit kami, naging gritty kami that time, that's why na-overcome namin. Though naka-ilang set  point din 'yung kabila, nakaka-recover kami,” he added.

Skipper Jema Galanza scored 10 points for Adamson.
