Foton loss a dampener but birthday-girl Sisi Rondina still feels so blessed
Cherry Rondina's bid for a double celebration is spoiled by Vietnam.

BINAN — Cherry Rondina wanted a double celebration and was close to getting it, but Foton slipped and absorbed a loss.

That put a dampener on her 20th birthday, but Rondina said she still considers herself really blessed even as Foton bowed to Vietnam in the Asian Women’s Club Championship.

Against taller, tough opponents, Rondina came up with blocks and delivered big hits just like she had routinely done  in the local collegiate and commercial leagues.

Jovelyn Gonzaga paid Rondina a huge compliment, saying the pint-sized spiker managed to somehow make up for the absence of Lindsay Stalzer, who sat out due to back spasms.

“Napakalaking bagay na wala si Stalzer kasi may sakit siya, alam naman natin ang percentage kills niya and all around player siya pero napunan naman ni Sisi,” she said.

Rondina waved off the praises, saying she is just happy to contribute.

Pero kahit ganoon lumaban kami kinapos lang kami iwo-work po namin ‘yun as a team,” she added.
