PHILIPPINE women’s volleyball team coach Francis Vicente heaped praise on Shaya Adorador for attending the 'Clash of Heroes' benefit match as a last-minute stand-in for national pool members who missed the event on Monday due to various reasons.

Vicente said he asked Adorador to show up for the benefit event, and she didn't hesitate even though she is not officially part of the national pool.

Among those who didn’t take part in the event were Alyssa Valdez, Grethcel Soltones, Rachel Anne Daquis, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Myla Pablo, Elaine Kasilag, Aby Marano, Kim Dy, and Dawn Macandili.

“Nakita niyo si Shaya Adorador? Isang sabi ko lang, pumunta ka. Pumunta siya. Walang hiya hiya,” said Vicente.

Aside from Mika Reyes and Ces Molina, the University of the East standout also shone in the exhibition match attended by 15 players. Adorador scored 13 points for Pilipinas Blue, which stormed back from two sets down to beat Pilipinas Red, 19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-15, 15-10 on Monday.

Vicente said he is impressed with the play of Adorador, saying top-level play brought out the best in her.

“Dala dala niya ‘yung flag. Nakita niyo na ibang iba ‘yung laro niya sa nakikita ko eh. Iba laro niya. Even with (Roselle) Baliton, ibang iba ‘yung setting style niya ngayon,” said Vicente, who also holds a concurrent post as head coach of UE.

“Kailangan pag sundalo ka, handa ka sa giyera kapag tinawag ka,” said Vicente.
