San Beda star Racraquin vows payback next season after finals sweep by Arellano
Cesca Racraquin considered the finals loss a vital learning experience for San Beda.

SAN Beda University star Cesca Racraquin wasted no time dwelling on a painful finals loss and instead chose to look forward to planning for payback next season.

Unlike Game One, where SBU fought tooth and nail, the Lady Red Spikers absorbed a stunning defeat at the hands of back-to-back champion Arellano University, 13-25, 27-29, 15-25, in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.

But the San Beda star did not shed a single tear and even comforted her younger sister Daryl.

“I think because of this experience we’re gonna be better next year and of course we’re claiming it now that next year we’ll be back here and get this, we’re gonna be out for vengeance,” said Cesca.

The SBU captain, who led the team to its first-ever Finals appearance since the start of the school's women's volleyball program in 2007, also stressed that there’s nothing to be ashamed off in losing the title to a much-experienced AU team.

Just being in the Finals was already a victory for her.

“I’m so proud of myself and my team kasi we worked hard for that, we’ve been a lot of challenges throughout this season,” she said.

“I thought to myself na, no I don’t have any pressure within me kasi wala naman akong kailangan patunayan. By being in the Finals I already made it, may napatunayan na ako,” she said.

Racraquin, who had 23 points, 21 digs and 23 excellent receptions in Game One, finished the match with 13 markers and 14 excellent receptions.
