San Sebastian downs Mapua in straight sets to grab share of lead in NCAA women's volleyball
Grethcel Soltones takes it easy this time as San Sebastian scores a quick win.

SAN Sebastian overpowered Mapua, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13, on Monday force a three-way tie on top in the women's division of the 92nd NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan City.

Katherine Villegas led the way with nine points, while Nikka Mariel Dalisay added eight as San Sebastian scored its second win in as many matches.

Back-to-back MVP Grethcel Soltones had only seven hits but San Sebastian still climbed to the top to join early leaders St. Benilde and San Beda.

San Sebastian scored a much more comfortable win this time after surviving a five-set scare from Arellano University.

Katrina Racelis scored eight points for the Lady Cardinals, who absorbed their second straight defeat.

In men’s play, Mapua beat San Sebastian, 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, to join San Beda on top with two wins apiece.

Angelo Jose Pertierra paced the Cardinals with 17 points, Raven Evangelista scored 13 and Alfredo Pagulong added 12 markers.

In juniors' action, reigning champion Perpetual Help routed San Beda, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12, to seize the solo lead with a 2-0 win-loss slate.
