Gorayeb criticizes NU for going down to level of competition in win over Adamson

COACH Roger Gorayeb blasted the NU Lady Bulldogs for playing down to the competition, saying the straight-sets win over lowly Adamson could have been much better.

The Lady Bulldogs took an hour and 23 minutes to finish off the Lady Falcons, and for Gorayeb the margin was too close.

NU also didn’t do very well in other departments, registering only three blocks, two service aces and committing 27 errors.

“Tumahimik na lang ako, ayaw ko nang nagsasalita kasi hindi tama eh,” said the veteran mentor.

“Ke malakas ‘yan, ke mahina ‘yan, kahit nasa dulo ng standings, laro ‘yan eh. This is a competition,” rued the former national team coach.

“I expect them to be stronger than that, no need for me to tell them,” he added.

Gorayeb had been urging the Lady Bulldogs of raise their level of play since day one.

NU improved to 5-3 for third spot, but Gorayeb was looking for more, especially as they prepare for a match against second-running La Salle (6-2) on Sunday.

In their first-round meeting, the Lady Spikers beat the Lady Bulldogs in three.

“Kung ganyan sila, mahirap, walang intensity eh,” he said. “You have to remind them over and over again, ayaw ko na nga magsalita.”
