Arellano skipper Rialen Sante going for the kill in Game Three: 'Pipilitin namin tapusin 'to'
Rialen Sante vows to triple her effort in going for the kill against the Lady Stags. Jerome Ascano

THERE’S no time to waste for Arellano University skipper Rialen Sante as they aim to finish off the San Sebastian Lady Stags and close out the Finals series of the NCAA Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday.

The Lady Chiefs turned back the Grethcel Soltones-led San Sebastian College, 18-25, 25-16, 25-11, 26-28, 15-13, in Game Two to move on the cusp of an unlikely NCAA title despite SSC armed with a thrice-to-beat edge.

While she admitted that she remained pumped up after the win, Sante was quick to keep her focus on their next game.

“Hindi kami dapat mag-relax sa next game. Kung kailangan triplehin, ti-triplehin namin ang trabaho,” she said. “Pipilitin namin tapusin ‘to, one set at a time kami.”

The Lady Chiefs are riding an 11-game win run into Game Three of the Finals on Tuesday, but the graduating team captain said she pays no mind to the streak, and that she and her teammates are keeping their sights on the task at hand of bringing back the NCAA crown to Arellano—a feat they accomplished two years ago.

“Hindi po namin kailangan ilagay sa isip namin ‘yun (na lamang kami). Ang dapat namin gawin, pagpursigehan namin ang susunod na laban at paghandaan sila ng maayos,” she said.

“Syempre hindi mawawala ‘yun (isipin na thrice-to-beat sila) pero ang inisip lang namin one game at a time lang, sipag lang,” added Sante.
