Japan's Red Rockets keep slate unblemished with quick win over Vietnamese squad

BINAN — NEC Red Rockets of Japan turned back Thongtin Lien Viet Post Bank of Vietnam, 25-15, 25-19, 25-13, on Wednesday to sweep Pool E in the classification for quarterfinal pairings of the 2016 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship at Alonte Sports Arena.

Mizuki Yanagita scored 14 points, while skipper Sarina Koga, Kana Ono and Ayana Oyama added 10 markers apiece for the Japanese squad.

The Red Rockets have yet to drop a set in the tournament, topping Pool E with a carryover 4-0 win-loss record and will take on the No. 4 team in Pool F in the knockout quarterfinals on Friday.

Nguyet Anh Pham Thi scored eight points, Nu Ly Linh Tran Ton had seven markers while team captain Thi Minh Do finished with six points in just two sets of action for Vietnam.
