LA Salle coach Ramil de Jesus stressed rookie mistakes that led to too many unforced errors cost the Lady Spikers the game against National University, 16-25, 24-26, 25-14, 23-25, in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the MOA Arena.

The Lady Spikers, who committed 31 errors, including 11 in the second set, struggled early in the game and failed to recover in the end.

De Jesus said the team did not have much time to prepare as the Lady Spikers waited for the dugout to be vacated by the Ateneo men’s volleyball team, which absorbed a, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 13-15, loss to Adamson earlier in the day.

Siguro next time kailangan ma-decrease namin ang unforced errors,” added the veteran mentor.

The Lady Spikers were leading, 20-14, in the fourth set when the Lady Bulldogs countered with a 9-1, run capped by a Myla Pablo attack to take the upperhand, 23-21.

La Salle tied the game at 23-23, but Pablo pushed NU at match point before Roselyn Doria scored on a service ace to seal the victory for the Lady Bulldogs.

The eight-time UAAP champion coach admitted the Lady Spikers’ heads were not in the game as they handed the win to NU.

La Salle fell to a 2-1 card for a share of second spot with its tormentors.
