THE Philippines finally won a match in the 2015 Asian Under-23 Men’s Volleyball Championship, downing Southeast Asian rival Vietnam, 28-26, 28-30, 31-33, 27-25, 15-8, on Tuesday in the classification round for the 13th to 16th place held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

The Nationals had to sweat it out in the first four sets before breezing through the last set to advance to the battle for 13th place where they will face the loser of the Kazakhstan-Maldives match being played at presstime.

The men’s under-23 squad is being led by Marck Espejo and Peter Torres with Oliver Almadro as head coach.

The Philippines and Vietnam are in different brackets in the Southeast Asian Games.
