Philippine Super Liga Spike on Tour goes to Quezon Province

TOP volleyball action is set in Quezon for the first offering of Philippine Superliga's Spike on Tour this year.

Two matches in the women's division of the PSL All-Filipino Conference are tentatively set in the third week of April at the Quezon Convention Center.

Aside from the games, organizers have also lined up side events including a mall tour, meet and greet with players, outreach program and a volleyball clinic.

Also set is a men's exhibition match where the province's best spikers will get a chance to play with some of top Superliga players.

"This is the first time for us to host an event like this and we couldn't wait to open our doors for the Superliga," said Quezon Province Gov. David "Jay-Jay" Suarez recently.

"Bringing Superliga in our province is in line with our sports development program. Our province is already buzzing with excitement. We are all looking forward to an action-packed weekend."

PSL president Ramon "Tats" Suzara hopes that the event would further boost Quezon Province's sports development program and bring the country's premier inter-club volleyball league closer to volleyball fans, especially in the Southern Tagalog region.

"We're trying to reach out to as many fans as possible," Suzara said. "That's why we're making sure that we hold Spike on Tour in places with vibrant sports program like Quezon Province."

It will be the fifth installment of Superliga's Spike on Tour series after events in Cebu, Ilocos Sur, Muntinlupa City and Binan, Laguna.

The league is set to open its new season with the annual rookie draft on March 11, with the All-Filipino tournament set on March 21.
