Petro Gazz gets win run going with straight-sets victory over Iriga-Navy

PETRO Gazz bagged its second straight win in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, defeating Iriga-Navy, 25-22, 30-28, 25-13, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Ukrainian import Olena Lymareva-Flink scored 16 points and registered 14 digs for the Angels, who started the tournament with three consecutive losses, are now back on their feet.

Lymareva-Flink arrived on Thursday to replace Kadi Kullerkann, who is out with a knee injury.

“I’m happy with the win, but we need more practice,” said Petro Gazz coach Jerry Yee. “Wala naman coach na hindi matutuwa ng nanalo.”

“Pero kita natin ang kailangan itrabaho so we go back and practice some more,” he added.

Cherry Nunag and Anastasiia Trach also combined for 17 points for Petro Gazz in the one-hour and 26-minute match.

American imports Lauren White and Macy Ubben finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively for Iriga-Navy.

The Lady Oragons absorbed their third loss in four outings.
