THE University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas survived the La Salle Green Spikers, 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 14-25, 15-12, on Saturday in the Spikers’ Turf Season Two Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Rey Taneo led the Altas with 16 points from 13 attacks, while his brother Relan added 12 to keep the Atlas record unblemished in two games.

The Altas won after grabbing an early two-set advantage but Raymark Woo powered La Salle to grab the next two to force a fifth set.

“’Yung mga players masyadong nagkampante nung nakakuha ng dalawang set so ‘yung relaxation nila sobrang baba talaga, then ‘yung kalaban nakakuha ng momento,” Altas assistant coach Marcelo Joaquin said.

“’Yun talaga ‘yung problema namin sa team. Kapag nakakuha ng dalawang set, nag-re-relax. ‘Yun ‘yung tinuturo pa namin sa player na kailangan kapag mananalo na. kailangan tatapos na hanggang dulo.”

Woo led the Green Spikers with 27 points but was the lone double digit scorer for his team who now has a 1-1 record.

The Altas will next face College of Saint Benilde on Wednesday, August 17, while the Green Spikers will face National University on Monday, August 15. Both matches will be held at the Philsports Arena.
