NATIONAL University skipper Jaja Santiago is wary of a vengeful La Salle side ahead of their second face-off in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Santiago led the way when the Lady Bulldogs frustrated La Salle in the first round via a come-from-behind 26-24, 19-25, 22-25, 25-17, 16-14 win.

She expects a motivated Lady Spikers side to show up in the 4 p.m. rematch.

“Alam namin na talagang babawi at babawi ang La Salle, pero pagta-trabahuhan namin, pag-iigihan namin,” said the 6-foot-6 NU star.

In their first meeting, NU erased a four-point deficit, 8-12, in the fifth set and left La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus so furious he ordered the team to head back to the gym to practice after the game.

That's the reason Santiago is bracing for a La Salle fightback.

“Laban lang ng laban, kahit sinong kalaban, sige fight, ganun,” said the national team member.

“Hindi naman namin kailangang mamili ng kalaban kasi lahat naman sila pagdadaanan namin, so kahit sino 'yung mauna, kailangan 'yung attitude mo, palaban lang at ready,” she added.

The Lady Bulldogs are currently in top spot with a 6-1 win-loss record, while the Lady Spikers are at No. 2 (5-2).
