Babes Castillo urges NU players to raise game as they try to topple titleholder La Salle in semis

NATIONAL University coach Babes Castillo says the Lady Bulldogs need to be more like the La Salle Lady Spikers in terms of level of play to have a chance at toppling the champions in the UAAP women’s volleyball Final Four.

“La Salle became more consistent eh, makikita mo ‘yun. Lalo na sa serve, lalo na sa passing, everybody in the team ng La Salle can pass,” he said.

“Dapat may ganoon din kami.”

The fourth-seeded Lady Bulldogs need to win twice to stop La Salle from reaching another title series, a very tough task considering NU won only one out of seven matches in the second round.

They ended the elims with a four-set loss to Far Eastern University, who went on to clinch the No. 2 seed.

“I don't see it that way eh, na-down kami ng pagkatalo. I don't see it. Sa ngayon kasi taas-kuryente lang talaga ako,” said Castillo.

The first-year Lady Bulldogs coach added he is not worried going against UAAP powerhouse La Salle and its twice-to-beat advantage.

“Yes yes yes, I like that. Always kasi, you always compete with the best,” said Castillo.

“Doon mo lang makikita kung anong meron ka. That is why in that regard, gusto ko 'yun. I like that,” he added.
