NATIONAL University downed College of St. Benilde, 25-16, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21, on Saturday to boost its semifinal chances in the Spikers Turf Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

Bryan Bagunas and Madzlan Gampong had 21 points each, while Fauzi Ismail added 11 as NU scored their third win.

"Salamat na nakuha ulit namin, medyo tumaas uli yung kumpiyansa namin sa tournament na ito," Bulldogs head coach Dante Alinsunurin said, noting that tough defense made the difference, bouncing back from a loss to La Salle.

"Yung blocking talaga namin, tsaka yung service receive namin, naka-receive kami. Yung block kahit paano nakapuntos kami," said Alinsunurin.

Johnvic de Guzman paced the Blazers with 23 points while Ron Jordan and Josh Montano contributed eight markers each.

The also-ran Blazers suffered their fourth loss in as many matches.

NU next faces Perpetual Help, while the Blazers take on Philippine Merchant Marine School in a match of winless teams.
