NICOLE Tiamzon still feels blessed despite University of the Philippines falling short in the semifinals of the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.

The fourth year Lady Maroon remained positive and felt no need to sulk after UP bowed to Ateneo, 19-25, 16-25, 21-25, on Saturday at the MOA Arena, because the former UP skipper believed they have achieved their goal for the season.

“It’s blessing na we’ve come so far like ‘di rin naman namin in-expect lahat na makalusot kami sa Final Four and we worked hard for this one also,” Tiamzon told

“Siguro kinulang man kami ngayon kailangan next season siguro mas pumukpok pa kami. And at least alam na namin ‘yung mga weaknesses namin and ‘yun nga kailangan namin i-build ulit ‘yung sarili namin for next season,” she added.

The Diliman-based squad returned to the Final Four after 13 years of absence and for that Tiamzon is thankful.

“Sobrang gandang experience din and dadalhin namin ito next season,” she said. “Kinulang man pero marami kami natutunan.”

The Sports Science major, however, did not answer if she will maximize her eligibility in the UAAP. But whether she returns for one more year or not, Tiamzon is already excited for what the team can do in Season 79.

“Looking forward for the next season,” she said. “May motivation na kami kasi alam namin na kaya namin. So next year, maghahanda pa kami lalo para kung ano man ‘yung mangyari ‘yung goal na namin hindi lang basta Final Four.”
