Lyceum sweeps EAC in men's, women's and juniors matches in NCAA volleyball
The Lady Pirates score their fifth win in six matches.

LYCEUM scored a triple triumph over Emilio Aguinaldo College in the NCAA Season 92 volleyball tournament, sweeping the men’s, juniors and women’s matches on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Jhonel Badua and Joeward Presnede scored 14 points apiece as the Pirates downed the Generals, 27-25, 25-20, 25-18.

In women’s action, Lyceum scored its third straight victory, a 25-20, 25-23, 25-20, demolition of the listless EAC squad to move a step closer to semifinals.

Cherilyn Sindayen, Czarina Orros and Christine Miralles scored 12 points each, while La Rainne Fabay added 10 markers for Lyceum.

“Kailangan pa naming mag-step up pa kasi ‘yung nakikita namin sa ensayo hindi namin nagagawa rito, kanina ang pangit ng receive namin,” said coach Emil Lontoc.

“Siguro kanina masyadong kumpiyansa sila na alam nilang hindi gaanong malakas ang kalaban,” added the veteran mentor.

Lyceum improved to a 5-1 win-loss record tied with defending champion College of St. Benilde.

The Junior Pirates took longer to score the win, downing the erstwhile unbeaten Brigadiers, 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, for their fourth win in as many matches.

Valeriano Sasis led the way for LPU with 20 points to stop EAC’s five-match winning streak.

Lyceum will have another long break before facing Perpetual Help on January 13, Arellano University on January 18, before closing the elimination round against San Sebastian College.
