ARELLANO University kept its record unblemished and took the solo lead, while dealing San Sebastian College its first loss of the season, 25-21, 15-25, 25-14, 25-18, on Tuesday in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Cristine Rosario and Menchie Tubiera scored 12 points each, while Danna Henson had 11 as the Lady Chiefs extended their run to six matches.

The Legarda-based Lady Chiefs needed an hour and 30 minutes to finish the match.

Nikka Dalisay scored nine for SSC, which dropped to second spot at 6-1. Perpetual Help is running third with a 5-1 card, followed by College of St. Benilde at 4-1.

Meanwhile, Maria Shola Alvarez led the way as Jose Rizal University defeated Mapua, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12, to tighten its hold on fifth place.

Alvarez scored 25 points from 19 spikes, three blocks and three service aces, as the Lady Bombers scored their fourth win in seven outings.

Laela Lopez and skipper Rosali Pepito each added 11 markers for JRU.

Jela Pena had 27 points and Audrey Paran scored 17 for Mapua, now in joint seventh with Lyceum at 1-4.
