NATIONAL University celebrated twin titles on Wednesday as its high school teams ruled the UAAP Season 79 volleyball tournaments, downing the University Sto. Tomas squads at the Adamson Gym.

Billie Jean Anima led the way as the Bullpups pulled off a 25-15, 25-18, 25-19 victory over the Tiger Cubs in the decider of the boy's best-of-three finals to retain the title.

Anima was named finals MVP.

NU survived a late fightback from UST, 25-22, 25-23, 15-25, 25-20, to bag its third consecutive title in the girls’ division.

NU slipped in the third and started the fourth slow, falling behind 1-6 before regaining composure, snatching the lead 15-13 and holding on for the win.

"This is the most amazing championship year namin," said NU girls head coach Raymond Castillo.

"I think what it tells us is that we are really a team. Humugot kami ng lakas mula sa isa't isa, wala talagang star player," he added.

NU won the series opener in three sets before UST forced a decider with a four-set win, spoiling NU's bid for a season sweep.
