MYLA Pablo took matters into her own hands in the endgame, leading Pocari Sweat to a 25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 18-25, 15-3 victory over Perlas in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

The veteran hitter scored four of her 26 points in the deciding set to lead the Lady Warriors to a commanding lead on the way to their fifth straight win after starting the conference with back-to-back losses.

“Expected naman kay Myla na siya talaga ang mag-take over kasi siya naman ang ace spiker namin,” said Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella. “Yung expectations namin sa kanya na mag-take over laging nandoon.”

Pablo, who was nursing a bad back, also managed to register 11 digs in the match where Pocari Sweat held on after blowing a two-set lead.

Pocari Sweat middle blocker Elaine Kasilag had 15 markers and 16 digs while Jeanette Panaga added 15 points and Cai Nepomuceno eight. Desiree Dadang had six and Jessey de Leon made five.

After losing a close fourth set, the Lady Warriors woke up just in time and raced to 5-0 lead before the lead ballooned to nine, 10-1.

“Ang laki ng letdown namin sa fourth set kasi I guess (na-down) ang mga players namin kasi dapat sa amin na ‘yung third set. Eh noong natalo nga kami parang ang tagal nilang naka-recover,” said Abella, whose squad squandered a 16-10 lead in the third set.

“Buti na lang naka-recover kami noong fifth set.”

Amy Ahomiro finished with 11 points for Perlas, while Kathy Bersola chipped in 10 for the Spikers, who sipped to a tie with the Power Smashers at 3-3.
