LYCEUM scored its first win in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament, beating Mapua, 26-24, 24-26, 25-21, 25-17, on Monday at The Arena in San Juan.

Skipper Bien Juanillo and Monica Sevilla scored 18 points apiece as the Lady Pirates scored a big win after bowing to Perpetual Help and College of St. Benilde.

Christine Miralles also had 15 for the Intramuros-based squad, which had a total of 14 blocks.

Lyceum coach Emil Lontoc only fielded six out of the eight scoring players, plus the two liberos.

“Pinapaalala lang namin na anim lang kayong (scoring players) naglalaro sa loob then ‘yung dalawang libero na nagpapalitan so dapat pahalagahan nyo ang bawat sitwasyon ng bola, ‘wag magre-relax,” said the veteran mentor.

Dianne Latayan made 19 points for Mapua, while Patria Pena had 17. The Lady Cardinals remained winless in three matches.
