TEAM captain Mika Reyes led the first day of training of the Philippine women's volleyball team on Friday at the Arellano gym.

Joining Reyes were Alyssa Valdez, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Denden Lazaro, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Rhea Dimaculangan, Gen Casugod, Ces Molina and pool member Ria Meneses in sweating it out during the team's three-hour practice, the squad's first since the release of the lineup for the coming Southeast Asian Games.

Aby Maraño, Kim Fajardo, Dawn Macandili came in late as the trio were fresh off practice with their F2 Logistics team. Other members of the national team like Jaja Santiago, Maika Ortiz, and Rachel Anne Daquis did not participate in the training.

Santiago and Ortiz dropped by the gym but had to leave early, with the former headed to National University practice, while the latter had to send off her mother who will fly to Germany for work.

Daquis, on the other hand, was absent as she texted Cignal teammate Gonzaga that she cannot attend the practice.

Meanwhile, head coach Francis Vicente was not feeling well so in his place, assistant coaches Nene Ybañez-Chavez, Brian Esquibel, Ronald Dulay, Ian Fernandez and Manny Calipes took charge of the practice.
