DEFENDING champion La Salle marched into the semifinals of the UAAP Season 79 women's volleyball tournament with an easy 25-16, 25-15, 25-9 win over listless University of the East on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Spikers joined arch rival Ateneo on top with their ninth win in 11 matches.

La Salle booked its ninth straight semis appearance.

“It’s all about hard work and perseverance, lagi naman ganoon kahit almost a year ang preparation,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.

Des Cheng scored 10 points, while Kim Fajardo and Majoy Baron added nine markers apiece.

Kim Dy chipped in with eight points and Ernestine Tiamzon scored seven.

Shaya Adorador scored six for UE, which dropped to 1-10.
