Macky Carino resigns as Benilde coach just months before start of NCAA women's volleyball
Mack Carino led the Lady Blazers to their maiden NCAA volleyball title in 2016.

MACKY Cariño stepped down as head coach of the College of St. Benilde, two years after leading the Lady Blazers to a maiden NCAA women’s volleyball championship.

Cariño tendered his resignation last Wednesday, ending a four-year tenure at CSB that included back-to-back third-place finishes in his first two years in charge before leading the team to the title in 2016 - the school's first since joining the league in 1998.

The team finished third last season.

His surprise resignation will force a change in the Benilde coaching staff, just two months before the new NCAA tournament kicks off in December.
