DEFENDING champion College of St. Benilde secured the No. 3 spot after defeating San Beda College, 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 25-18, in the playoff match of the NCAA Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament on Friday at The Arena in San Juan.

CSB and SBC will face each other anew in the stepladder semifinals on Monday.

Team captain Jeanette Panaga finished with 17 points for the Lady Blazers, who are coming off a two-game losing skid.

“Last two games natalo kami, so kailangan gumawa at humanap tayo ng paraan para magkaroon ng winning ways ulit para tumaas yung morale natin," said Lady Blazers coach Macky Cariño.

“Yung team ko, kailangan ganoon ng push ng panalo para ma-motivate sa susunod na game namin, especially semifinals na," he added.

Last year, CSB also clinched the No. 3 spot in the semifinals and defeated then No.4 seed University of Perpetual Help before it eliminated Season 90 champion Arellano to arrange a Finals showdown with San Sebastian College, which also swept the elimination round and earned an outright Finals berth.

The Lady Blazers won Games One and Two before SSC took Game Three, but the Taft-based squad needed only three sets in the title-clinching win.

Nieza Viray made 12 points for SBC.
