Kim Dy on vengeful win vs NU: 'Tatak ng La Salle na kapag natalo, babawi kami'
Kim Dy and La Salle celebrate in getting some payback on NU. Marlo Cueto

MOTIVATED by a painful first round loss, La Salle gave National University a lesson it will never forget.

The Lady Spikers swept the Lady Bulldogs, 27-25, 27-25, 25-16, to avenge their first round loss in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

The win pushed La Salle at the No. 1 spot tied with NU with a 6-2 win-loss record.

“May added motivation na, uy natalo tayo dito sa first round,” said La Salle veteran Kim Dy. “Syempre naging tatak ng La Salle na kapag natalo, babawi kami.”

In their first meeting, the Lady Spikers were three points away from the win, 12-8, in the fifth set before Jaja Santiago and Aiko Urdas took charge for the Lady Bulldogs all the way to take the win.

Dy and co. simply did not want the same thing to happen in the second round.

La Salle showed grit after it overcame a 14-21 and 10-17 deficit in the first and second sets, respectively, en route to dominate the third set and win the game.

“I think maganda sa team na pinakita ang maturity kasi we were down by ilang points tapos hinabol namin parang nagkakumpyansa din kami,” said Dy.
