POWER Smashers remained in contention for an outright semis berth after an easy 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, win over league-leading BaliPure in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Nes Pamilar-coached squad improved its win-loss record to 6-4, tied with defending champion Pocari Sweat at No. 2.

BaliPure, which had earlier secured the first spot in the round of four, suffered its third loss in 10 outings.

Kannika Tipachot scored 17, while fellow Thai import Hyapha Amporn and skipper Jovelyn Prado had 10 points each for the Power Smashers.

Power Smashers Mary Dominique Pacres and Alina Bicar were taking their final exams at University of Sto. Tomas and skipped the match.

Thai import Jeng Bualee scored 18 for BaliPure.
