JOVELYN Gonzaga and Nene Bautista of RC Cola turned back April Ross Hingpit and Jonafer San Pedro of Meralco, 21-17, 21-16, on Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2016 Philippine Super Liga beach volleyball challenge cup at the MOA Sands by the Bay.

Gonzaga and Bautista topped Pool D with a 3-0 record, while Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza of FEU-Petron also advanced with a 2-1 card.

Gonzaga and Bautista won over Pons and Atienza in three sets last week.

FEU clobbered Mary Grace Berte and Vhima Condada of Cignal Team Awesome, 21-14, 21-15. The Pons-Atienza tandem also beat Meralco in straight sets.
