Jovelyn Gonzaga to miss Asian Games as PH Team spiker takes time to recover from ACL injury
Jovelyn Gonzaga insisted that she's taking a cautious approach in coming back from an ACL injury she suffered last November.

NATIONAL team spiker Jovelyn Gonzaga will have to miss the Asian Cup and Asian Games as she takes her time to recover from her ACL injury.

The opposite spiker, who’s currently with Cignal, sustained a right knee injury during a match against F2 Logistics in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix last November.

But Gonzaga is not pressured to get back on the court anytime soon.

“At this point in time, medyo hindi ko pa naiisip na maglaro ulit kasi naka-mindset ako na hopefully last quarter of this year or next year na ako maglalaro,” she said.

The 6th AVC Challenge Cup is on September 16-23 in Thailand, while the Asian Games in on August 18 to September 2 in Indonesia.

The pride of Jordan, Guimaras also shared that she’s taking one step at a time to recover.

“So far okay na, magtu-two months na ang recovery ko and so far okay naman ang progress,” she said. “Pwede na ako mag strength and conditioning pero wala pang takbo, wala pa talon, puro basic pa lang,” she added.

“Ang advice lang nila (Cignal) sa akin is magpalakas ako, magrecover ako,” she added.
