ATENEO still could not solve the problem that is National University and its bid to secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four hit a snag, but Jhoana Maraguinot is confident the Lady Eagles will quickly bounce back.

The Lady Eagles played a five-setter for the second time in six days, and this time wound up on the losing end.

Maraguinot said the match schedule and demanding practice sessions during exam week at Ateneo have made it much tougher, but the Lady Eagles face a favorable schedule ahead of the much-awaited second-round showdown with titleholder La Salle.

They next take on lowly Adamson and University of the East, the matches a week apart.

“Okay naman kasi kahit papano talaga, lumaban pa rin kami, hindi namin binitawan lahat ng game. So okay naman siya,” said Maraguinot, adding that there is no added pressure even as they again failed to stop the Lady Bulldogs.

“Okay lang naman kasi at least, sabi sa amin ni Coach Tai (Bundit), we did better today kasi pinush namin siya to five sets compared to first round namin na four sets,” said Maragunot.

“Hindi naman sobrang down pero sabi niya at least lumaban pa rin naman kami, ang nakita ko naman na talagang kumapit pa rin naman talaga kami,” added the Alitagtag, Batangas native.

Maraguinot shared that some had to skip training due to academics.

“Mahirap, as in ang hirap, kasi sumabay siya sa midterms namin, so parang ’yung iba sa amin talaga hindi nakaka-training din minsan, tapos pagdating sa training pagod ka, after training mag-aaral ka na naman kasi may exam ka the next day or may paper ka na due ng 11:59,” she said.

“Ayun, nakakapagod lang, kulang talaga ’yung time to rest and hindi naman kami maka-tigil sa training kasi sunod-sunod ’yung games eh,” she said.
