Jaja Santiago shrugs off disappointing loss as FEU ends NU unbeaten run
Jaja Santiago shrugged off NU's first loss: 'Nagtrabaho lang talaga ‘yung FEU ngayon nang maigi.' Marlo Cueto

NATIONAL University star Jaja Santiago just wanted to move on after Far Eastern University gave the Lady Bulldogs their first taste of defeat, 22-25, 27-25, 13-25, 20-25, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Bulldogs captain, whose five-game winning run was halted, did not bother to offer any excuses and instead credited the Lady Tamaraws for a job well done.

“Wala, move on. ‘Yun lang,” said Santiago. “Nagtrabaho lang talaga ‘yung FEU ngayon nang maigi. Ayun, kinulang lang talaga sa passing and floor defense.”

The loss put a blemish on NU’s perfect record (5-1) but Santiago kept her head held high as she emerged from the locker room.

The do-it-all spiker echoed NU coach Babes Castillo’s post-game huddle.

“Positive naman (si coach) kailangan namin ipanalo ang next game. Training, back to reality, training,” she said.

NU will try to get back on its feet when it faces University of the Philippines on Sunday.
