NATIONAL University made short work of Arellano University, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23, in the first match of the best-of-three semifinals of the Premiere Volleyball League Collegiate Conference on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Lady Bulldogs are one win away from booking a return trip to the finals.

The second match is set on Saturday.

Jaja Santiago led the Lady Bulldogs with 24 points including the kill that sealed the match.

Risa Sato had 11 points, while Aiko Urdas and Jorelle Singh combined for 15 markers for the back-to-back champions.

"Yung consistency ng kanilang pagiging responsible, somehow ginagawa nila. Hindi sila naglalaro ng bara-bara," said NU coach Babes Castillo.

Everything was smooth-sailing in the first two frames for the Lady Bulldogs before the Lady Chiefs showed their wares the following set.

Refusing to fold, Arellano even led 20-19 before Santiago, Sato and Jasmine Nabor took charge in the final stretch for NU.

Regine Arocha paced Arellano with eight points, most of which coming in the third frame.

Necole Ebuen and Andrea Marzan had six points each.
