MARCK Espejo continued to impress in UAAP Season 79 as he won an unprecedented fourth straight MVP award, formally receiving his trophy on Saturday.

Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro reiterated how impressed he is with his prized player, putting Espejo in rare air after comparing him to one of the world's greatest athletes.

“There will never be another Marck. Parang Michael Jordan,” said Almadro.

Espejo topped his historic individual feat on Saturday when he led Ateneo to captured its third straight league title with a undefeated season and a sweep of the final series against National University.

Espejo, however, said his MVP win was not an individual effort.

“’Yung volleyball naman, wala namang ‘I’ sa team. Siguro ‘yung volleyball talaga, nakukuha ko ‘yung awards dahil sa tulong ng teammates ko. Nag-sisink in na sa akin na ako ang MVP kasi tapos na ‘yung season.

“Siguro thankful ako na guina-guide ako ni Lord sa paglalaro. Hindi Niya ako pinapabayaan. Hindi Niya ako hinahayaang madisgrasya. Gina-guide niya kami hanggang matapos ang season,” said Espejo.

Almadro said Espejo has the all-around qualities of an athlete that is on his way to greatness.

“What’s good with Marck is he is a humble person, hardworking, and a great athlete. It is rare na makakita tayo ng Marck Espejo,” said Almadro.

Almadro, however, also commended the effort of Espejo’s tag team partner in Ish Polvorosa.

“Hindi puwedeng kalimutan si Ish. Para silang tandem. Para silang Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. ‘Yun ang sinasabi ko sa kanila. Although hindi marunong mag-basketball si Ish, pero sinasabi ko sa kanila, Jordan and Pippen sila,” said Almadro.
