HOME team PSL-F2 Logistics Manila put up a valiant effort before it bowed to defending champion Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul, 17-25, 17-25, 25-23, 14-25, to remain winless in Pool A of the FIVB Women's Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday.

The Magnificent 7 - Rachel Anne Daquis, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jaja Santiago, Kim Fajardo, Ces Molina, Mika Reyes and Jen Reyes - played in the second set to help the team take a five-point lead, 12-7, before the Turkish club limited the host team to five points the rest of the way.

But PSL-F2 Logistics Manila found reasons to cheer in the third frame as Santiago scored three consecutive service aces to tie the score, 22-22, before Neslihan Demir took the lead for Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul, 23-22. A 3-0 spurt capped by Yevgeniya Nyukhalova's kill got PSL Manila their first set won in the tournament to extend the match.

PSL-F2 Logistics Manila was within striking distance, 9-10, in the fourth set but the Turkish team erupted with a 9-2 run to widen the gap, 19-11, before sealing the victory.

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul will face VakifBank Istanbul in the knockout semifinals.

PSL-F2 Logistics Manila will play in the classification for fifth to eighth place on Saturday.
