SEMIFINALIST Volero Zurich kept a flawless record after it survived VakifBank Istanbul, 25-22, 27-25, 16-25, 12-25, 16-14, in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday.

Olesia Rykhliuk led Volero Zurich with 30 points, from 24 attacks, five blocks and one service ace.

Down by two, 12-14, in the fifth set, the Swiss team crawled back and silenced VakifBank with a 4-0 spurt—thanks to a hit from Mari Paraiba, an error by VakifBank captain Gozde Kindar, a block point by Olesia, and a drop ball from Paraiba to seal the win.

USA national team member Foluke Akinradewo and Dobriana Rabadzhieva each had 11 points for Volero Zurich, which remained undefeated in three games in the elimination round in Pool B.

Rio 2016 Olympic gold medalist and MVP Zhu Ting had a game-high 31 points, scattered from 24 kills, three blocks and four service aces, for VakifBank, while Milena Rasic added 20, including 10 blocks, and Lonneke Sloetjes chipped in 12.

VakifBank dropped to 1-1 and will face also-ran Bangkok Glass to end its elimination round campaign.
