FAR Eastern University top hitter Bernadeth Pons vowed to come back stronger for the Lady Tamaraws as they try to extend the series against treble-seeking La Salle in the second match of the best-of-three finals of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament.

The graduating outside spiker was limited to nine points in a three-set loss on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

“Kailangan kong mag-charge ulit,” she said.

“Kailangan bumawi talaga ako sa Game Two, kailangan ko ma-lead ang team ko,” she added.

Pons said she was asking for the ball but she couldn’t penetrate La Salle’s strong defense at the net.

Although the Lady Tamaraws scored more attacks (37-19), the Lady Spikers scored 11 kill blocks in the one hour and 39-minute match.

“Humihingi ako syempre kasi kailangan naming pumuntos eh so kailangan talagang mag-step up (pero) sadyang wala lang talaga,” she said.

FEU coach George Pascua is confident Pons will bounce back strong.

Syempre talagang siya ’yung babantayan ng La Salle,” he said.

The Lady Tamaraws try to level the series on Wednesday.
