UST Tigresses get back on track with rout of winless Adamson Lady Falcons

UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas handily beat winless Adamson University, 25-13, 25-12, 25-9, on Saturday in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

UST, coming off a four-set loss to unbeaten University of the Philippines, scored its second win in five matches.

Adamson remained winless in six outings.

Sisi Rondina scored 15 points for UST, which hit 14 service aces.

“Sa part namin confidence building ang ginagawa namin ngayon, tinatyaga namin kung ano ang mga kulang namin,” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes.

“Ang service namin buong buo at no pressure kaya siguro ganoon ang intensity ng service namin,” he added.

EJ Laure and Alina Bicar had six points apiece for UST, while Pam Lastimosa chipped in five, Shannen Palec scored four, Ria Meneses, Alex Cabanos, Christine Francisco and Carla Sandoval each had three markers.

 “Ganyan kami maglaro, ‘yung kahit sino ipasok nagdedeliver, ganyan ang team namin ipasok mo ‘yan magdedeliver talaga,” said Reyes. “Ganyan sila kapag relax lang ang pakiramdam nila so hopefully ito na ang turning point namin.”  

The Tigresses faces National University on Wednesday and Far Eastern University next week.

Jema Galanza scored seven for Adamson.
