DE La Salle-Zobel overpowered University of the East, 25-18, 25-16, 25-15, to keep its finals bid alive in the UAAP Season 79 high school girls volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym.

The Junior Lady Spikers eliminated fourth-ranked Junior Warriors and moves up the stepladder semifinals against second seed University of Sto. Tomas.

The Tigresses, who hold the twice-to-beat incentive for finishing second in the elimination round, hope to use their homecourt advantage to the hilt in their showdown with the Junior Lady Spikers at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the UST Gym.

A rubber match, if necessary, will be played on Nov. 21.

Defending two-time champion National University is in the best-of-three championship series after sweeping its 12 elimination-round matches.

The boys division semifinals will start on Monday, with titleholder Bullpups playing No. 4 Far Eastern University-Diliman at 3 p.m. at the NU Gym.

The semifinal between No. 2 UST and third-ranked University of the East is set on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the UST Gym.

By finishing 1-2 in the eliminations, the Bullpups and Tiger Cubs need only to win once to advance to the best-of-three title series.
