VOLLEYBALL star Dindin Santiago is set to get married, but she stressed her career will not be taking a backseat.

On Saturday, the lanky volleybelle opens a new chapter in her life when she exchanges ‘I do’s’ with former National University player and now Bulldogs assistant coach Chico Manabat.

Dindin said the civil wedding will be a simple one, with only family members and close friends in attendance.

And lest an issue be made out of it, the ex-NU stalwart made it clear she’s not yet pregnant, insisting that she simply feels it is the right time to start married life with someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

“Siguro sa nakikita ko after four or five years pa kasi wala pa rin kami balak mag-baby pa kasi sayang ang opportunity,” she disclosed to Spin.ph after watching her former NU teammates in action during the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.

“Lahat din naman ng pag-iingat ginagawa namin at ‘yung disiplina nandoon pa rin sa amin kasi gusto ni Chico ‘yung pangarap ko magawa ko pa rin,” she continued.

Like any other would-be bride, Santiago said she’s definitely getting some goosebumps.

“Sana nga bukas na,” she said with a laugh. “Excited na ako. Hindi na ako makapaghintay.”

The 21-year-old spiker likewise doesn’t mind critics questioning her decision to enter married life at such a young age.

“Madaming nagsasabi hindi pa raw time na magpakasal ako. Pero ako, sa isang babae malalaman mo na kung time mo na magpakasal at mararamdamam mo na ‘yun na ang taong para sa ‘yo, ang mamahalin mo habang buhay,” said Santiago, who’s been going steady with Manabat for four years now.

She said her dream church wedding is to their children acting as ring bearer and flower girl.

“Gusto ko mag-church (wedding) 'pag may dalawa na kaming baby,” she revealed. “Magpa-flower girl sila or ring bearer.  ‘Yun ‘yung gusto ko.”

But Santiago stressed she’s always open to God’s plan.

“Siyempre, hindi rin naman natin alam kung ano ang pwedeng mangyari, syempre pag binigay ni God ‘yun na ‘yun,” she said.
