UNIVERSITY of the Philippines snapped a four-match skid, beating University of Santo Tomas, 31-33, 25-23, 25-16, 25-12, in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

Skipper Diana Carlos had 32 points, with 27 hits, while Isa Molde scored 24, all but one from attacks.

UP bagged its second win in six outings, joining UST in sixth spot.

“First we won but our opponents were a very good team, very aggressive, and we welcome that, we knew playing against an aggressive team is not easy,” said UP coach Godfrey Okumu.

“But if we could defend well, keep our heads on the game and the results will be positive,” he added. “We worked on our defense and we were able to defend well.”

The Lady Maroons had 14 blocks against just three by UST, all from Tin Francisco.

Sisi Rondina had 23 points, Francisco scored 12 and Dimdim Pacres added 10 for UST.,
