Tots Carlos on scoring outburst to snap UP out of slump: 'Sobrang nakakapagod matalo'

UNIVERSITY of the Philippines skipper Diana Carlos admitted she was sick and tired of losing and dropped a career-high 32 points to lead the Lady Maroons past University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Maroons started its campaign with a win over University of the East but suffered four straight losses after kicking off the season on a winning note.

But Carlos has apparently had enought after leading UP to its second win at the expense of UST, 31-33, 25-23, 25-16, 25-12.

“Sobrang importante (itong panalo), sobrang bumaba kami eh. Tsaka sobrang nakakapagod matalo, so kailangan i-defend, kailangan namin lumaban,” said Carlos.

The third-year spiker said it was a conscious effort for her to take care of the scoring for the team.

“Kailangan naming tanggapin eh. Kasi wala namang iba. Si Ayel (Estranero) defense and set, sino pa bang aatake ‘di ba?” said Carlos.

“So kailangan naming akuin ang trabaho namin noong binigay na role sa amin para magawa namin ang gusto ipagawa sa amin,” she added.

UP earned a much-needed morale boosting win ahead of its match-up with National University on Sunday.
