BORACAY – The Light Blue team of Gretchen Ho, Cha Cruz, Michele Gumabao and Rachel Anne Daquis ruled the first-ever Nestea Fantasy Beach Volleyball on Saturday at the Boracay Beach Chalet.

The all-star team recovered from a set down to get the better of Dark Blue made up of Dindin Santiago-Manabat, Mela Tunay, Tricia Santos and Amy Ahomiro, 15-21, 21-19, 15-9.

Former La Salle star Gumabao, who played for the first time with former UAAP rivals Ho and Daquis, had so much fun and said the win was still gratifying.

“Masaya kasi fun game lang siya,” the former La Salle star told Spin.ph. “Iba pa rin ‘yung panalo sa dulo.”

On Friday, Light Blue team also won in three sets, 21-18, 14-21, 15-12, under the scorching sun.

“Sulit naman ‘yung pawis and init,” she added laughing.

Gaining momentum in the second set, Light Blue relied on the he attacks of Daquis and Cruz to take command while good reception from Ho and Gumabao kept the ball in play.

Light Blue stormed ahead 13-5, in the final set. Santiago-Manabat pulled Dark Blue within 8-13 but Light Blue simply had too much firepower.
