THE year is not yet over but 2016 has already been a sweet one for coach Ramil de Jesus.

In March, De Jesus steered La Salle to the UAAP championship after it defeated three-peat seeking Ateneo. And on Wednesday night, he added another trophy to his collection when F2 Logistics ran over last year’s Grand Prix champion Foton in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino finals.

“Happy ako gawa ng hindi naman ako nagpapakahirap sumali sa ganitong tournament kung walang dream mag-champion eh, so dream ko din na mapag-champion kung anong hawak kong team,” he said.

The former Far Eastern University outside hitter now has nine titles in the UAAP and nabbed his first PSL title after ending successive failed finals appearances with two different teams.

In 2015, De Jesus' Generika team lost to Petron in the Grand Prix, and the following year fell at the hands of Petron in the All Filipino.

But despite his successful year, the multi-titled veteran mentor is far from satisfied as he longs to bring his success in the collegiate and club level to the national team.

“Sa akin kasi kung meron pang mas mataas dito, ‘yun sana ang target, pero ('yun ay) kung mabibigyan ng chance na may mahawakang team,” revealed the soft-spoken mentor.

“Kasi as far as sa akin, responsibility ‘yun kapag humawak ka ng mas mataas pa dito, meaning national team. So ‘di natin alam kung mabibigyan tayo ng chance,” he added.
