SAN Beda College bagged its second straight win in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament, defeating University of Perpetual Help, 28-26, 25-18, 29-27, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

Nieza Viray scored 20 points as SBC improved to 2-0 for a three-way tie at No. 1 with defending champion Arellano University and College of St. Benilde.

SBC coach Nemesio Gavino Jr. said after the tough five-set win over Jose Rizal University a week ago, the they wasted no time preparing for Perpetual Help.

“Unang-una, tinrabaho namin sa training talaga. Game plan namin kung paano pipigilan ang Perps. Inisa-isa namin sa scouting, talagang napaghandaan namin,” he said.

“Importante kasi ’yung format, single round lang, so hindi talaga dapat matalo,” he added. “Bawat game, kailangan maipanalo kasi maliit ang chance na makapasok sa Final Four.”

Cesca Racraquin delivered for San Beda as Perpetual saved three match points, with the Lady Red Spikers skipper scoring two straight to put away the Lady Altas. She had a total of 13 points, 19 digs and 11 excellent receptions.

Lourdes Clemente had 16 points, while Cindy Imbo scored 11 for the Lady Altas, who dropped to 1-1, tied with San Sebastian College, Letran and JRU.
